Place Value

This term, Mr Ogilvie's maths groups are focusing on Place Value and Patterns. For our task, we had to answer the three questions (What is place value?, How does Place Value work? and How would you use it to solve problems?) and show what it means using shapes so that the reader understands.

  1. Well done Angari, you have set this out in a very thoughtful way which makes it easy for someone who doesn't know about place value to understand how it works. Your example was well thought out as it showed the "ones" place value being bigger than 9 and having to move to the left. Some more reflection on how you found the process would be helpful to you personally to figure out when to use this as a strategy. You could also compare place value to the strategy from last term of splitting the numbers.
