L.I: to infer information using clues and prior knowledge. This term Mr Wong's groups are focusing on inferring. This week we read the text first flying machine by Read works. In our session last week we inferred on a fiction text. This week we are focusing on inferring a non - fiction text. For our Must do we had to record our inferences we made about the text First Flying Machine. We had to work as a group. I enjoyed working with Tongariro on this group slide.

Emoticon Story - Maria

L.I: to infer information about characters in a text. This week for Reading, Mr Wong's groups worked on the story, The Wonders of Flight. In our group we had to track down the feelings, of a character in the story. Then we went off and tracked down the feelings of another character in the text. In our Must Do we had to choose a character and use our prior knowledge and clues from the text to figure out the feelings of that specific character.

Inferring - Mixed Questions

This week for Reading Mr Wong's groups were focusing on Inferring. We had to do a worksheet to practice our skills. I learnt that you had to use our prior knowledge and clues to figure out a new idea in the text. The screenshots below tell you about my practice worksheet for our class tests coming up in week 3 and 4. This worksheet was recommended by my reading teacher, Mr Wong. For this activity we had to use the phrase "I already know that" and "My clue from the text is.." for our answers. This activity had some hard bits, but also some manageable. I hope that this will help with my Reading tests.

Inferring Worksheet

L.I: to learn what inferring is
For our Must Do we had to complete the worksheet given. For our worksheet we had to infer about who the character might be, what kind of person the character is, how the character is feeling at the moment and where and when the situation is. There were 3 stories on the sheet. I had to use the clues and prior knowledge to get my answers. It was fun learning about inferring.
