Mother's Day: Retelling

Today for Reading we practiced our retelling. We read two studyladder pieces of texts, Mother's Day and Fruits & Vegetables. We paired up and took turns retelling our story. Then we would be tested by Mr Wong, whether it was Mother's Day or Fruits & Vegetables.

Fruits & Vegetables - Retelling

Today for Reading, LS1 practiced our retelling on Studyladder. We opened our set tasks read our non fiction/ fiction piece of text then retold beginning, middle and the ending. Then at the end we added extra details. We had to give one sentence for each paragraph.

Finding China

Today during Reading my group read the article Finding China. Before we read the text we read the title. Then we discussed what we thought was going to happen next. I talked with Jack and Fraidoon. Our prediction was that the article was going to be about a recount of someone's experience going to China. We were right. The text said, 'Without my parents, I travelled to Shanghai, China, where I went to school for six weeks. How did this come about?'

Holiday Reading Retell - The Lost Letters

Retell
(in 25 words or less)

The trick with retelling a story is keeping it to the main points.  In this case you only have 25 words so make them count! Post your recount onto your blog with a comment that tells you:
- Title - The Lost Letters
- Author - Thea Stilton
- Type of Book - Fiction - Adventure, Mystery and Suspense
- Retell - The Thea Sisters and her new friends investigate a stolen ring. They help their friend clear her name and hopefully win an ice skating competition.

Hansel And Gretel Retelling

Today LS1 retold fairytales. First we read a fairytale then retold on paper. Then we made a wevideo and recorded us reading  our retold story. Then we blogged it. I learnt how to use wevideo and how to retell more. I think we could improve on retelling more advanced stories for our level

Retelling the story of Chicken Licken

Today LS1 retold stories. We were split small groups and were given narratives to read. We made a Retelling Scaffold and typed the Characters, Setting, Problem, and Solution. I learnt how to retell more and I think we could improve on making our stories more advanced.
