This week for Inquiry, our task was to make a sculpture or drawing of our plane we decided to research about. After I drew the Fokker D.XXI I researched the different parts and what they're called. I learnt a lot about different propellers and the different wings, wheels and more. I enjoyed learning and drawing the Fokker D. XXI.
I was a Year 7 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I was in Learning Space 2 and my teachers were Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Jean Batten Information Report - Inquiry
Last week Mr Wong's Inquiry group chose to either make a rap battle, common craft video or write an information report about Mr Wong showed us a few examples of a common craft and a rap battle. I chose to write an information report about Jean Batten. I talked about her early life, early flying and her record breaking flights. I found more interesting facts about Jean Batten.

Jean Batten - Inquiry DLO
This week for Inquiry we had to switch groups. I had to work with Mr Wong and learn about Aviators. For our first session we were divided into groups. We were given a paper and these following aviators: The Wright Brothers, Richard Pearse, Amelia Earhart and Jean Batten. Then we had to answer the questions that Mr Wong asked about that aviator while also rotating as we went along. Then after that Mr Wong and our group talked about what we wrote on our group papers. For our Must do we had to make a DLO about our favourite aviator. I have learnt many facts about Jean Batten and wish to learn more.

Rocket Experiment
L.I: How technology expands human development, L.I: How society and environments impact on and are influenced by technology past, present and future. This week for Inquiry, Mr Ogilvie's group did a Rocket experiment. For this we pinned approximately 7 metres of a fishing line from one end of the room to the other. Before pinning you put a straw through the line. For the rocket you blow a balloon, then use some tape to stick it on the straw. Instead of tying the end we used a clip. We did this experiment three times for each balloon (three balloons). It was fun predicting and watching the balloon run through the string like a flying fox. While doing this experiment we had to record the data. Using that data we made a bar graph show us how many metres each balloon went. The graph is showing you that balloon one went through the furthest. I think the graph was easy because I am experienced and currently learning about new graphs. I had fun doing the Rocket experiment.

Rockets - Lesson 2
L.I: How technology expands human development, L.I: How society and enviroments impact on and are influenced by technology past, present, and future. This term our topic is Flight. Last week I worked with Mr Wong. This week I am working with Mr Ogilvie again. Instead of researching about Migration we focused on Rockets. We used Rocket lab to design our own rocket and make it successful. We had to make sure it was cheap and not risky. We had to focus on the Shape, Propellant, Control and Stages. Each group had a turn trying to design a successful rocket. My group designed the Atlas V which made a very successful flight. I enjoyed designing a rocketship.

Flight - Animal Migration
L.I: How technology expands human development, L.I: How society and enviroments impact on and are influenced by technology past, present and future. Today for Inquiry, Mr Ogilvie's groups focused on Animal Migration. First we got into groups of 3 and record all the animals we think and know that migrate or have migrated. Then we went off on our own and did some research about a animal that we picked. As an example, Mr Ogilvie showed us what we needed to do on the species Godwits. My animal was a Barn Swallow. I found a lot of interesting facts about their Migration.

Migration 2 - Flight
L.I: How technology expands human development, L.I: How society and environments impact on and are influenced by technology past, present and future. This week for our Inquiry topic Migration, we had to do another slide called Flight. We got to pick our groups this time. We had to do another poster about Push Factors and Pull Factors. I found the facts very interesting.
Migration
L.I: How technology expands human development, L.I: How society and environments impact on are influenced by technology past, present and future. This term for Inquiry our topic is Migration. We were first separated into 2 groups to work with either Mr Ogilvie or Mr Wong. We will eventually switch groups during the term. For Mr Ogilvie's group we worked on describing what we saw in a picture, and talking about the definition of Migration and what types there are. I found a lot of interesting facts while researching about it.

Inquiry - Lisa Carrington
Since we have finished rotating in our groups for Inquiry, our class wanted to do 1 more DLO. This week's DLO was mostly about our researching skills. We had to answer the 5 ws and the H for an Olympic Athlete that competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. After finishing answering the 6 questions that we made we had a choice to go deeper and ask more. I definitely enjoyed researching about Lisa Carrington.

Venn Diagram - Note Taking
L.I To record our information in our own words. Today for Inquiry, Ms Naicker's group did a Venn Diagram for Ancient and Modern Olympics. We used our Note Taking for Ancient and Modern Olympics to create a Venn Diagram. We had to compare and contrast using the facts in our previous task. For our Note Taking we researched about Ancient and Modern Olympics. We had to record the information and write it in our own words.

Inquiry: Challenge 2, Nutrients
This week for Inquiry, Mr Wong's 'Diet' group did Challenge 2: Nutrients. We were split into 4 groups that each represented the nutrient either Protein, Carbohydrate, Vitamins/Minerals and Fat. We had to read a website about our nutrient then write down about that nutrient in our own words. We had to explain what it does for our body and what foods have these different nutrients. We then looked for images and attributed them. Then our groups did a similar activity to speed dating while doing last term's topic. First we went with group Fat. We had to tell them about our subject, show them what photos, attribute them then put it onto their group slide. We did that with each group until we had 4 slides of Protein, Carbohydrate, Vitamins/Minerals and Fats. I enjoyed doing a similar activity to speed dating because I learnt new things about the nutrients that I didn't know before.

Hauora: Challenge 3
Today for Mrs Anderson's group, Hauora we did Challenge 3 of our follow up. We had to partner up with someone, then measure both heart rates by feeling the pulse on our wrists. We had to count how many times you felt your partner's pulse beat in 20 seconds. Our whole group did 3 for each partner. Then after measuring our heart rates while resting, we ran across the netball court horizontally. The partner who was running did 2 laps while the other counted the pulse beats in 20 seconds. The partner who ran had to do 2 laps 3 times, then repeated with the other partner. Finally, everyone ran 2 laps at the end and tested our heart rates. We then went back to class and recorded our pulse beats.

Maps Challenge, Virtual Tour Challenge - Thailand
For Inquiry our groups switched for the last time. I switched from India to Thailand. Like all the other countries, we did the map challenge. We had to do basic tasks using a world map. Then we did the Virtual Tour challenge. We had to name a transport if we had to go from the airport to the city. Then we had to reference 3 famous landmarks in Thailand. We then put facts about them. Finally we had to put an image of the currency and the name for Thai baht.

India: Food Challenge, Dress Challenge, Famous Person Challenge
Today for the Indian group. We did the food challenge, dress challenge and the famous person challenge. For the food challenge we had to make a venn diagram comparing the traditional foods from NZ and India, then another venn diagram comparing the traditional foods from your culture and India. For the dress challenge we had to find traditional dresses from India, make a venn diagram comparing the Indian dresses and the NZ traditional dresses or we could've done a timeline or a venn diagram comparing the changes in the clothing over time. Then for the famous person challenge, we had to find a famous person from India and write a summary about that person. I researched about Mother Teresa.
