This week and last, Mr Ogilvie's groups did Geometry art. First we started with a white A3 sheet of paper with perspective lines. We then used google to search for images of 3d shapes. I drew a hexagon prism, pentagon prism, cone, square based pyramid, cylinder, cube, cuboid, and a triangle prism. Once we drew the shapes in pencil, we began to color the background using pastels. I chose the colors Blue and Yellow. After colouring the backgrounds we used a ruler to measure the floor. Then we used the checkered board patterns for the floor. We then coloured it in white and black. After that we used a vivid to go around edges of each shape. Finally, we used one more pastel to color our shapes. I had lots of fun doing this project during the past 2 weeks.
I was a Year 7 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I was in Learning Space 2 and my teachers were Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Transum - Roman Numerals
Today for my Other on the must do task list, I played roman numerals. The aim of this game if to find out which centurian does not get a shield. By finding out, you need to put the correct shield on the correct centurian. I enjoyed practicing my Roman Numerals. Here is the website if you are interested.

Transum - Addle
Today for my can dos I played Addle. Addle is a game on transum where you have to use the numbers from 1 to 14 and add them up to the right number. This task requires, basic facts skills from 1 - 40. I enjoyed playing this game as it is frustrating at the same time. If you wish to play the site is here.

Travel Measurements
This week we did a similar task from the last week. We used Google Maps to do this task. We had to measure places from the world and measure how many kilometres, metres, centimeters, and millimetres. We then used our thumb rulers to see how many thumbs by width and length there are against these long distances. I traveled the Australian, Asian, European, South Ameria and North America. I enjoyed exploring the world using google maps.

Classroom Measurement
This week for Maths we worked on Measurement. In our groups we discussed the different units in measurement, then talked about which is best to use in Maths. For our must do we had to measure 10 items in the classroom. I paired up with Jeremiah. First we made a thumb ruler. To make our thumb ruler we had to measure the width and length of our thumb and mark it. Then we put numbers to show how many thumbs. After that Jeremiah and I measured 10 classroom items using our thumb ruler, cm ruler and metre ruler. Then we did the maths to show how many kilometres and millimetres are in that specific item. I enjoyed doing this must do with Jeremiah.

Roman Numeral Puzzle - Transum
Today for my can do of the week I played a different transum activity called Roman Numeral Jigsaw. In the game you have the fit the pieces in the write spot like a jigsaw puzzle. If you know your roman numerals this game will be easy. After the puzzle is done (like the picture above) all your numerals will be in order from a certain number to another. There are different levels to try depending on how good you are with your Roman Numerals. Here is the site if you are interested.

Average Weather in Auckland
This week for Maths, Mr Ogilvie's groups had to make a different type of graph, A Line Graph. First Mr Ogilvie showed us a false weather template for the whole year except for July. We had to figure out the averge tempature, rain and wind. We then created a graph on paper and on google sheets. I did this task with Affonso. I enjoyed making a line graph for the first time .

Transum - Addle
Today for my Maths Can do I did Addle. For this activity you have to use the numbers 1 to 14 and put them in the correct spots. The key is to use your basic facts skills to get faster at adding them. I finished this task in 113 seconds. I enjoy playing Addle. You can find Addle on this website.

Addle - Transum
Today for my Any Can Do I played Addle. Addle is a similar to a puzzle, but using your mathematical skills to solve it. On the blue section above, you have the numbers 1 - 14. On the yellow section there are answers to equations that you have to solve by putting the correct number in each box. This activity was hard at first, but I used my basic facts to help me. It took 235 seconds to do this activity.

Bar Graph - Collecting Data Accurately
L.I: To accurately collect data, L.I: to accurately present data, L.I: to accurately interpret data. This week for Maths, Mr Ogilvie's groups had to make a bar graph using data. For our session we did an example of how to accurately collect data, how to accurately present data and how to accurately interpret data. After that we would use those examples to make our own investigation and create our own bar graph. I decided to do this Must Do on my own. My chart is based on how many times a side number can roll on a six sided dice. In conclusion I found out that 5 & 6 rolled the most because in this graph it shows you that they rolled 9 times. I also found out that 4 rolled the least because it only rolled 4 times. I found a lot of data when I finished. I enjoyed making a bar graph.

Maths Word Problems - Strategy Place Mat Two
L.I: To comprehend word problems, L.I; To choose the "best" strategy to solve the problem. This week for Maths, Mr Ogilvie's groups had to solve 2 problems from the given worksheets. We had to use the best strategy to solve the problem. We used the strategy place mat to show how we solved the equations. These questions were very hard, but I think I could do more questions like these.

Strategy Place Mat - Word Problems
L.I: To comprehend word problems, L.I: To choose the "best" strategy to solve the problem. This week for Maths, Mr Ogilvie's group had to work on solving word problems. We first looked at a couple of examples before we go off to do our must do. First we he gave us a word problem we had to first solve it in our head, then write our strategy down. It was surprising to see most people writing down the algorithm strategy. We then had to think of what the problem was asking us to do. We worked on multiplication, division, subtraction and addition. We worked on many strategies including ones we didn't focus on the previous term. I think I could do better next time and a=maybe have a new "best strategy" for equations like this.

Maths Methods
L.I: to teach the Korean Method, L.I: to investigate the 3 multiplication strategies. This week for Maths Mr Ogilvie's groups collaborated for our session. We were put into a group with a person or 2 from Taupo, Wakatipu and Wanaka. We had to teach our Method from the previous week. Then on our own google slide we had to explain all 3 methods for one of the equations chosen. I enjoyed learning the Korean, Japanese and the Algorithm Method.

Japanese Method - Angari
This week for Maths I learnt how to do the Japanese Method. Group Wanaka got to choose to either learn the Japanese Method, Korean Method or Algorithm. Most of us voted for Japanese Method. For our Must do we had to explain how to do that method. I enjoyed learning new methods to solve problems.
